When it comes to working with the subconscious mind—whether for anxiety, public speaking, emotional balance, or inner clarity—trust is everything.
Whether you’re hoping to overcome fears, break free from limiting patterns, shift your relationship with your voice or visibility, or align with your higher self, the person you choose to guide you should be highly trained, ethically grounded, and energetically aligned with your values. After all, this isn’t just about confidence—it’s about engaging with the deeper layers of your inner world.
In this blog, I’ll walk you through what to look for in a hypnotherapist, the red flags to avoid, and why credentials, structure, and presence matter. I’ll also share a bit about my own background so you can get a clear sense of what it’s like to work together.
Why Credentials Matter in Hypnotherapy
Unlike some personal development tools, hypnotherapy involves direct communication with the subconscious mind. This is powerful, transformative work—but it must be approached with care, skill, and ethical responsibility.
Unfortunately, the field of hypnotherapy remains largely unregulated in many states, and not all “certified” hypnotherapists have the same level of training or integrity.
Some programs offer weekend certifications with minimal depth, no clinical practicum, and little to no emphasis on ethics. To ensure your safety and success, here are some key qualifications to look for:
- Comprehensive training (ideally 500+ hours or more)
- Certification from a licensed, state-recognized school
- HIPAA compliance and clear confidentiality practices
- Affiliation with a governing body and signed code of ethics
- Continuing education requirements
- Client testimonials and professional presence
My Training and Credentials
I am a Certified Clinical & Transpersonal Hypnotherapist through the Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy (IIH)—an approved school under the Florida Department of Education and one of the few schools in the U.S. licensed to offer over 500 hours of state-recognized hypnotherapy training.
I’ve completed more than 1,000 hours of in-depth training, including:
- Hypnotic Programming and Therapeutic Recording
- Parts Therapy and Integration
- Childhood Regression Techniques
- Past Life Regression
- Eye Movement Therapy
- Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
I am also certified through the International Association of Interpersonal Hypnotherapists (IAIH), which holds its members to a high standard of ethics and requires continuing education every two years to ensure we remain competent, accountable, and up to date in our field.
I maintain full HIPAA compliance, which is especially important when working with issues that may overlap with medical, mental, or dental concerns. Confidentiality, professionalism, and client safety are the foundation of every session I facilitate.
The Importance of Spiritual Depth
In addition to clinical skill and ethical structure, I believe the most impactful work happens when both client and practitioner are spiritually aligned. Hypnotherapy isn’t just about outcomes—it’s about presence, readiness, and resonance.
That’s why I’m currently enrolled in an Online Monastery program—a spiritual study path that emphasizes inner stillness, non-attachment, and deep service to others.
This shapes how I hold space: I’m not here to diagnose, fix, or force anything. I’m here to walk alongside you with presence and integrity, offering support as you reconnect with the inner clarity and courage that’s already within you. Whether you’re seeking subconscious reprogramming, spiritual insight, or both, I’m here to meet you exactly where you are.
Red Flags to Watch For
Because hypnotherapy is not yet regulated in most states, it’s important to choose your practitioner mindfully. A few warning signs to be aware of:
- Weekend certifications or online-only programs with no clinical supervision
- No professional association or ethical code
- No mention of HIPAA or confidentiality practices
- Overpromising results or claiming to “heal” you
- No client reviews, website, or professional presence
- No commitment to continuing education or self-development
Someone may mean well, but that’s not a substitute for proper training and accountability. The subconscious is powerful terrain—it should be guided with care and skill.
What Sets My Practice Apart
Credentials and certifications create a solid foundation, but what truly makes this work transformative is the presence and care with which it’s offered—meeting each client with deep respect for their timing, readiness, and individual process.
Here’s what clients often say sets my approach apart:
- Customized sessions designed to meet you exactly where you are
- Supportive recordings and resources to continue your growth between sessions
- A client-centered, consent-based process that respects your pace
- Depth and intuition for those ready to explore their subconscious more fully
- Clear structure and ethical grounding
- A consistent track record of client trust and satisfaction
As trauma expert Dr. Bessel van der Kolk writes in The Body Keeps the Score, “Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health.” That sense of safety is central to how I hold space in session—calm, attuned, and grounded in respect for your process.

Final Thoughts: Choose With Clarity
Choosing a hypnotherapist is a deeply personal decision. This is someone who may walk beside you as you release limiting beliefs, uncover old patterns, and create space for something more aligned.
You deserve someone who approaches that journey with skill, humility, and presence.
Choose a practitioner who’s done their own inner work—someone who brings both training and presence, depth and humility. You deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported every step of the way. Someone who understands both the science and the sacredness of transformation. If that resonates, I’d be honored to connect.
